But now with many innovative techniques unleashed, we have wonderful ultra sonic jewellery cleaners that is highly suitable for cleaning and washing jewellery at home.
The following information is taken from the ASM HANDBOOK® Volume 5 : Surface Engineering. | INTRODUCTION ULTRASONIC CLEANING involves the use of high-frequency sound waves (above the upper range of human hearing, or about 18 kHz) to remove a variety of contaminants from parts immersed in aqueous media.
An ultrasonic cleaning is a process that uses ultrasound (usually from 20-400 kHz) and an appropriate cleaning solvent (sometimes ordinary tap water) to clean items. The ultrasound can be used with just water, but use of a solvent appropriate for the item to be cleaned along with the soiling enhances the effect.
